Day 1: Arrival in Venice
The tour will start when you check into the hotel. Once you have settled in, you’ll meet Kara, your host on the Classic Italy Small Group Tour and enjoy a welcome coffee with your traveling companions.
Now, it’s time to get outside and start exploring the magical city of Venice. In the company of a local expert, we’ll take you off the beaten track to see the real Venice. You’ll learn about the history of this unique place and modern life in the world’s most romantic city.

Day 2: Doge's Palace Tour
After breakfast at the hotel, we’ll stroll over to St. Mark’s Square to meet our guide for a private tour of the Doge’s Palace. The guide is going to learn about how the powerful Venetian Republic was run, see the beautiful palace where the Doge lived, walk through the Bridge of Sighs and see the stunning Byzantine mosaics in St. Mark’s Basilica.
After the tour, you’ll have the rest of the day to enjoy Venice on your own.

Day 3: Private Boat Tour Venice Lagoon
We’ll leave the island of Venice today in a private boat to explore the surrounding Lagoon. Our tour will take us to some of the Lagoon’s most famous islands. The first stop will be Murano where we will visit the famous glass factories and assist you with any purchases you wish to ship home. We’ll move the island of Burano, where we’ll stop for lunch and you’ll have time to explore the lovely island known for its painted houses and lace-making. Then we’ll take a short boat ride to visit the ancient Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta on Torcello, before tasting wine produced in the unique environment of the Lagoon.

Day 4: Florence Walking Tour
We’re heading to Florence today by high-speed train and will be there in just over 2 hours.
We’ll check into our accommodation and start to explore Florence. As we walk around the city, a private guide will tell us about its history and the powerful Medici Family that once ruled here. As well as getting your first glimpse of the city’s most important monuments, we will visit the Accademia Gallery, home to Michelangelo’s monumental David.

Day 5: Uffizi Gallery Private Tour
Our day will begin with a private tour of one of the world’s most visited museums. In the corridors of the Uffizi Gallery, our expert guide will bring stories of Renaissance Florence to life and introduce you to the works of the greatest masters of the Italian Renaissance, including Leonardo da Vince, Michelangelo, Raphael and Botticelli.
The afternoon will be free for you to explore Florence, her churches and museums on your own.

Day 6: Day Trip to Siena or Pisa
Choose between a day trip to Pisa or Siena and let us plan it for you. You’ll leave Florence train station in the morning for your chosen destination, about 1.5hrs from Florence. After seeing some of the lovely Tuscan countryside on the regional train journey, spend the day exploring the town and visiting the main sites. You’ll have plenty of time to explore the town, take a leisurely lunch and enjoy skip-the-line tickets with dedicated entrance time for the most important sites: the Leaning Tower, baptistery and Campo Santo cemetery in Pisa or the Duomo and Palazzo Pubblico in Siena.

Day 7: Visit the Colosseum in Rome
We’re heading south to the Italian capital today by high-speed train. The next few days in Rome will be an incredible tour through layers of history, from antiquity, through the history of Christianity to the splendor of the Baroque.
After checking into the hotel, our first stop will be lunch at a traditional trattoria, followed by a tour of the ancient world. Our expert guide will take us to the Colosseum, the temples and monuments of the Forum and the ruined palaces of the Palatine.

Day 8: Rome Private Walking Tour
Our day will start with an early morning walking tour around some of the city’s most iconic locations before the crowds arrive. As we walk through the ancient streets, you can expect to see sites including the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Piazza Colonna, the Pantheon, Piazza Navona and Campo dè Fiori, and learn about some of the emperors, popes and powerful families who built the city.
The rest of the day will be free and you can explore more of Rome at your own pace.

Day 9: Vatican Museums & St. Peter's Basilica
Today you’ll discover the artistic wonders of the Vatican Museums and St. Peter’s Basilica. As we walk through these stunning sites, you’ll discover centuries of art, the papal apartments decorated by Raphael (including The School of Athens) and the legendary Sistine Chapel.
Once the tour is over, you’ll have some time to yourselves to relax and recharge before we meet again for our cooking class. You’ll learn how to make authentic Roman pizza from scratch with a local chef, before sitting down to enjoy your culinary creations with some local wine.

Day 10: Food Tour of Naples
After we arrive in Naples, you’ll be introduced to this beautiful city and its delicious street food by a local guide. Expect to taste fresh buffalo mozzarella, authentic pizza, sweets, fried snacks and intensely strong coffee. Our tour continues to the archaeological museum where you will get your first look at the treasures of Pompeii. Through wall paintings, statues, mosaics and other artefacts, you’ll start to learn what life was like in Pompeii before the eruption.

Day 11: Private Boat Tour to the Amalfi Coast
At the port, we’ll meet our skipper for the day who will take us out into the Bay of Naples. We’ll enjoy wonderful views of the city and Mount Vesuvius as we head towards the Amalfi Coast on the other end of the Bay. We’ll stop at the popular towns of Positano and Amalfi, then stop out at sea where you can go swimming while admiring the famous coastline.
Back in Naples, it’s time for our farewell dinner on the last night of our Classic Italy Small Group Tour as we say ‘arrivederci’ to Italy and our new friends.

Day 12: Private Tour of Pompeii
The last day of your Classic Italy tour, will end with a tour of the ancient city of Pompeii. An local guide will bring to life the events of an August night in 79AD which left the town frozen in time. You’ll see what life was like for people living there, discover what they were doing when Vesuvius started to erupt and see some of the most recent sites to be opened to the public.
