Day 1: VENICE

Check into the hotel from 2pm. At 3.30pm, meet Kara and your fellow travelers for coffee. After getting to know your traveling companions a bit, you’ll start to discover Venice in the company of an expert guide.  Your private tour will take you beyond the most famous sites to see the real Venice with a local, from history to modern life in the world’s most romantic city.

Days 2: VENICE

After breakfast at the hotel, we’ll stroll over to St. Mark’s Square to meet our guide for a private tour of the Doge’s Palace. We’ll learn about how the powerful Venetian Republic was run, see the beautiful palace where the Doge lived, walk through the Bridge of Sighs to the prison and see the stunning Byzantine mosaics in St. Mark’s Basilica.

Days 3: VENICE

We’ll leave the island of Venice today in a private boat to explore the surrounding Lagoon. Our tour will take us to some of the Lagoon’s most famous islands. On Murano, we will visit the famous glass factories and assist you with any purchases you wish to ship home. We’ll stop for lunch together, then you’ll have time to explore Burano, known for its painted houses and lace-making. Facing Burano, we’ll visit the Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta on Torcello, and taste wine produced out in the Lagoon on Mazzorbo island.

Days 4: FLORENCE

Enjoy a final stroll around Venice this morning while we transfer your luggage to the train station where your tickets will be waiting for you.

After we check into the hotel, we will climb the famous dome to see the city from above. Later, a local guide will accompany us around Florence to learn about the history of city and the powerful Medici Family. Our private tour will include a visit to the Accademia Gallery, home to Michelangelo’s monumental David.

Days 5: FLORENCE

Our day will begin with a private tour with a local expert guide who will bring stories of Renaissance Florence to life. The Medici started their art collection in the building that housed the city’s administration. Today, the offices have become one of the world’s most visited museums and the Uffizi Gallery is filled with works by the greatest masters of the Italian Renaissance, including Leonardo da Vince, Michelangelo, Raphael and Botticelli.

Days 6: FLORENCE

Choose between a day trip to Pisa or Siena and let us plan it for you. You’ll leave Florence train station in the morning for your chosen destination, about 1.5hrs from Florence. You’ll see some of the lovely Tuscan countryside on the regional train journey, then spend the day exploring the town and visiting the main sites. You’ll have skip-the-line tickets for the most important sites: the Leaning Tower, baptistery and Campo Santo cemetery in Pisa or the Duomo and Palazzo Pubblico in Siena.

Days 7: ROME

We’re heading south to the Italian capital today by high-speed train. The next few days in Rome will be an incredible tour through layers of history, from antiquity, through the history of Christianity to the splendor of the Baroque. 

After checking into the hotel, our first stop will be lunch at a traditional trattoria, followed by a tour of the ancient world. Our expert guide will take us to the Colosseum, the temples and monuments of the Forum and the ruined palaces of the Palatine.

Days 8: ROME

Our day will start with an early morning walking tour around some of the city’s most iconic locations before the crowds arrive. Our tour will take us to the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Piazza Colonna, the Pantheon, Piazza Navona and Campo dè Fiori, introducing you to some of the important families who built the city.

Days 9: ROME

Today you’ll discover the artistic wonders of the Vatican Museums and St. Peter’s Basilica. We’ll explore centuries of art, the papal apartments decorated by Raphael and the Sistine Chapel inside the museums.

Later, you’ll learn to make authentic Roman pizza with a local chef and prepare your own dinner.

Days 10: NAPLES

After we arrive in Naples, you’ll be introduced to this beautiful city and its delicious street food by a local guide. Expect to taste fresh buffalo mozzarella, authentic pizza, sweets, fried snacks and intensely strong coffee. Our tour continues to the archaeological museum where you will get your first look at the treasures of Pompeii. Through wall paintings, statues, mosaics and other artefacts, you’ll start to learn what life was like in Pompeii before the eruption.

Amalfi Coast

Days 11: NAPLES

At the port, we’ll meet our skipper for the day who will take us out into the Bay of Naples. We’ll enjoy wonderful views of the city and Mount Vesuvius as we head towards the Amalfi Coast on the other end of the Bay. We’ll stop at the popular towns of Positano and Amalfi, then stop out at sea where you can go swimming while admiring the famous coastline.

Back in Naples, it’s time for our farewell dinner, bidding goodbye to Italy and our new friends.

Pompeii

Days 12: NAPLES

On your last day in Italy, we’ll visit one of its most famous sites: Pompeii. An expert guide will bring to life the events of an August night in 79AD which left the town frozen in time. You’ll discover what life was like for people living there and see some of the most recent sites to be opened to the public.

Back in Naples, our tour comes to an end.
